About Sahayata Foundation

Empowering Communities, Inspiring Change — 12 years of selfless service across India

Our Story
Our Origins

Founded in 2012, Sahayata Foundation began with a simple belief: that disability should never mean disadvantage, and that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and a chance to thrive.

Inspired by a personal experience with Congenital Cerebral Palsy in the family, our founders understood firsthand the barriers that persons with disabilities face — not just physical barriers, but social, economic, and institutional ones. In a single room in Tughlakabad, New Delhi, they started a small rehabilitation centre with a primary school attached to it.

Within two years, the foundation launched a Mobile School for homeless children in Delhi, reaching 200–250 children who had no access to formal education. By 2017, Sewa Bhawan — a patient accommodation centre — opened its doors, providing free lodging and meals to families travelling to Delhi for medical treatment.

In 2019, the community kitchen was launched — serving 500–600 nutritious meals daily to the underprivileged. The same year, grassroots environmental work began: monthly cleanliness drives (Sanshudhi), tree plantation campaigns, and the Cycle Chalao Delhi Bachao cycling advocacy movement. Over 70 campaigns, 12+ cleanliness drives, and 500+ volunteers later, the foundation had grown beyond its founders' wildest dreams.

Today, Sahayata Foundation stands as a multi-sector organisation reaching 10 million+ lives across healthcare, education, women's empowerment, disability inclusion, disaster relief, and environmental action — all powered by the belief that lasting change begins with compassion, shared responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to inclusion.

How We Work
